Dr. Gracyn Smith - Veterinarian

${name}

Dr. Gracyn Smith ("Dr. G") was born in Houston, TX and grew up in Lake City, CO.

She has always known she wanted to be a veterinarian, with her first word being "kitty" closely followed by "I am going to be an animal doctor" (well, maybe not in quite so many words). Dr. G graduated from Colorado State University with a BS in biochemistry, then attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and Oregon State University for her veterinary studies and clinical rotations. She graduated veterinary school with her DVM in 2022 and returned to the Northern Colorado area to be close to family and old friends.

A proponent of individualized care, Dr. G considers veterinary medicine to be a team effort that involves the patient, their guardian(s), the veterinarian, as well as the entire hospital team. Her interests include surgery, pain management and anesthesia, as well as low-stress handling methodologies. Dr. G is Fear Free certified, and is commonly found on the patient's level, adjusting examination components to fit the pet's needs and anxiety levels.

Dr. G also holds a particular fondness for feline medicine, especially spicy kitties due to her experience with the feral cat populations at RUSVM. She has her own not-so-feral cat colony of six, who all greet her at the end of each day - Dindy, Toothy, ZBBB, Ting, Ham, and Taro. Her hobbies include aquascaping, video games, and spending time with friends (especially if it includes coffee).

Dr. Gracyn Smith looks forward to joining your pet's healthcare team!
